Michael Kors Global Digital Product

Like many digital products, the launch of Michael Kor's e-commerce site was just the beginning.  After building out the content teams to support it, the next step became assembling a UX and in-house front end code team to begin thinking through and implementing the many opportunites to enhance.

Role  Creative and Experience Director, built cross-functional team.

In 2015, the first initiative to refresh the site was to begin to make its main templates responsive, allowing the on-site team to take it from there.  We updated the navigation, better exposing the search functionality and allowing flexibility for international language needs. We also streamlined some of the outdated chrome styling.  My team handed off the major design files and specs as well as an animation prototype to make sure the designs had the fidelity necessary for a brand like Michael's.

For brand alignment, email navigations were also refreshed on all email templates, and to be more mobile friendly. Naturally our overall global digital system needed to address ADA and generic fall back fonts.

Content and Commerce

With the robust editorial content of Destination Kors we wanted to make sure the content was complimenting and driving to our e-commerce products, and for users who wanted to get to know the brand deeper, provide content along shopping.

Templates provided greater flexibility for business teams to react and for countries to localize.
Marketing assets were streamlined and sprinkled throughout e-commerce shopping experiences where users liked them best.  E-commerce photography was enhanced to better sit along side branded imagery and added to DK stories.
For major product or line launches where advertising was being heavily invested, advertising landing pages were created to educate further.

Search & Filter Updates

Designing and implementing enhanced filter and search for MichaelKors.com was a project that allowed us to set up process standards.

Three design options were presented to the business team, incorporating feedback over three rounds.  Pushing designs through our worst-case scenarios, prototypes and animation samples were created for user testing and decision making.  We deepened integration with our cross functional teammates and off-shore developers and together we were able to generate efficient, impactful results.

E-Commerce Photography

An audit of current e-commerce practices combined with user data resulted in adjusting budgets and angles to better accommodate their shopping needs.

Sales increased while our campaign costs decreased.  Looking at our overall photography usage and conducting tests enabled us to increase our e-commerce quality.  This allowed for more use of e-commerce assets enabling a more dynamic digital system.

Marketing and App Support

Across the global markets many local apps, for retail and international were built and supported as well.  Such as WeChat in China or apps for the Michael Kors smart watch or testing in-store tech.  Here is a demo made in partnership with Facebook's advertising team.
